This unique orchid- vanilla planifolia (from which the vanilla bean grows, and vanilla is derived)- loves a humid climate, and does really well in a terrarium, greenhouse, or humid sunroom. So well, in fact, that a greenhouse in Illinois houses a single vanilla orchid that has spread over nearly the entire greenhouse, and we’re talking ACRES of space! I can almost guarantee this won’t happen in your home, so don’t worry!
Plenty of warmth, humidity, and bright indirect light are enough to keep this guy happy.
Cuttings are shipped in sphagnum moss, to stay hydrated. We recommend leaving them in the moss to root them, and potentially beyond that. Easy to root!
