One of the more hardy ferns- in terms of sustaining periods of low humidity, and allowing the soil to dry out between waterings- the kangaroo paw fern is a great option for a unique looking, but low maintenance, non-toxic plant for the home.
While it can handle lower humidity and drying out between waterings better than some of it's cousins, kangaroo paw is still a fern, and will perform better in higher humidity conditions and soil that remains damp (but not soggy).
