Geogenanthus is such a unique looking plant!
With it's thick and iridescent, purple-green leaves, you can tell instantly that these are not native to North America! But they do have relatives here, coming from the Spiderwort family, the same group of plants that tradescantia are a part of.
This plant is a ground cover native to Ecuador, and lives in the damp forest floor. They adapt easily to normal household humidity, as long as they aren't allowed to dry out completely. Medium to bright, indirect light is required, along with frequent checks of the soil to ensure that it doesn't dry out. Fertilize during the growing season with worm castings and fish fertilizer.
