Very similar to the Ficus Elastica ‘burgundy’, this rubber tree has the familiar large, rubber-like leaves that give it it’s nickname. The difference is that this Ficus has smaller, more compact leaves, unlike it’s cousin, the Elastica. The same care is suggested for most ficus trees- Bright, indirect light, consistent temperature and humidity, watering when the top 2 to 3 inches of soil are dry (don’t let it dry out completely!), along with regular feedings during the growing season. CONSISTENCY is the key to Ficus Happiness. Avoid fluctuations in temperature, soil moisture, and humidity levels, as they will react badly, often with leaf loss, and sometimes even death.
