This is one of the coolest carnivorous plants out there and it will truly take a big chunk out of any fungus gnats you might have (But stop watering your plants so much, and reach out to us for the best way to get rid of fungus gnats)!

Pinguiculas, also known as Tropical (or Mexican) Butterworts are native to Central America, and have sticky leaves during their carnivorous form, that catch and consume tiny gnats with ease. As the seasons change in their native region, so do they, taking on a succulent form, that no longer catches bugs. In your home, with no changing seasons, they may not ever leave their carnivorous form, which is perfectly acceptable!

Variants of plants are as follows:

Small is a small plant, roughly 1 to 1.5 inches across, and growing well. This species is a NOID, or a hybrid of unknown parentage, but grows to around 8 inches or more in diameter. They are thought to be a hybrid of Gigantea X Moctezumae.

Medium is 1.5 to 2 inches or more, but less than 4 inches across.  This species is a NOID, or a hybrid of unknown parentage, but grows to around 8 inches or more in diameter. They are thought to be a hybrid of Gigantea X Moctezumae.

Large is either a medium that has multiplied, and is not yet divided (2 plants connected), or a larger single plant (usually around 5 to 6 inches across). They are either flowering, or should be shortly.  This species is a NOID, or a hybrid of unknown parentage, but grows to around 8 inches or more in diameter. They are thought to be a hybrid of Gigantea X Moctezumae.

Do not use plant food or nutrients with your carnivores, as most of them are used to growing in a substrate that is very nutrient deficient, and will suffer if given plant food, sometimes, even to the point of death. They are thought to be a hybrid of Gigantea X Moctezumae.

**THESE PLANTS DO NOT ALWAYS SHIP WELL, ESPECIALLY THE LONG-LEAFED VARIETY. YOU SHOULD EXPECT YOUR PLANT TO LOSE A LEAF OR TWO DURING TRANSIT, BUT DON'T WORRY- THEY WILL GROW BACK, AND THE LOST LEAVES WILL USUALLY GROW MULTIPLE BABY PLANTS OF THEIR OWN! WE DO PACKAGE THEM VERY CAREFULLY, IN ORDER TO MINIMIZE THE DAMAGE THAT MAY HAPPEN FROM ROUGH HANDLING DURING TRANSIT.

JUST DO NOT EXPECT AN INSTAGRAM READY PLANT, STRAIGHT OUT OF THE BOX. BY PURCHASING THIS ITEM, YOU UNDERSTAND AND AGREE THAT THIS IS ACCEPTABLE.**
